Despite losing her reelection campaign in August, U.S. Rep. Cheney, R-Wyoming, had a record fundraising quarter, bringing in $4.1 million from June 30 to Sept. 30, according to campaign finance reports.

That beats her previous quarter record of $2.5 million raised in the first quarter of the year. The substantial quarter bumped her total campaign earnings to $17.1 million.

Breakdown

Cheney also reports receiving 397 separate donations since the Aug. 16 election.

Cheney spent nearly $6 million in the third quarter, by far her largest spending quarter of the campaign. This figure leaves her with $4.6 million cash in-hand, far less than the nearly $7 million she had entering the quarter.

More of her post-election costs were associated with travel, advertising and the cost of reimbursing those who gave her money for her general election campaign. On Sept. 26, she also gave $5,000 to Rep. Jaime Beutler, R-Washington.

How Much Per Vote?

In total, Cheney’s campaign spending tallies out to about $255 per vote received based on the $12.6 million she spent during the campaign and the 49,339 votes she got.

She has said she will use her Great Task PAC to fund Congressional candidates opposing candidates endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

Harriet Hageman, who beat Chaney by a huge margin with 113,079 votes, reports about $1.6 million in campaign donations during the third quarter of the year, a time period that includes her final push of the primary campaign season.

The $4.9 million she reports spending overall during her campaign against Cheney comes out to about $43 per vote.

Hageman’s Breakdown

Although her third-quarter donations did not top the $1.8 million she raised during the second quarter from April 1 through June 30, the quarter completed more than a month after her highly contentious primary campaign against Cheney had already finished.

Hageman continued receiving large sums of money through late August and September through 986 separate financial donations.

On Sept. 16, she received a $31,366 donation from the Cruz 25 For 22 Victory Fund, a political action committee working on behalf of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. This PAC gave her another $7,194 on Sept. 30.

She also received $4,316 from the Save Wyoming PAC on Sept. 21, a lesser-known PAC set up on her behalf associated with former President Donald Trump’s Save America PAC.

In total, Hageman has raised $5.4 million since her campaign started.

During the third quarter, Hageman spent $2.3 million, giving substantial sums to other candidates.
