Although Hollywood probably won’t likely change anyone’s mind here in Wyoming, at this point with two weeks to go before the primary election, it may not hurt anything either.
U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney doesn’t appear to be worried about it anyway.
On Monday afternoon, Cheney tweeted a photo of actor Kevin Costner on the set of Yellowstone’s Dutton Ranch, wearing a shirt that promoted her candidacy.
Costner is wearing a white tee-shirt with the message “I’m for Liz Cheney” emblazoned on it.
Cheney tweeted it with her own message approving of Costner’s stance.
“Real men put country over party,” Cheney said.
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer saw no upside to the endorsement.
“Liz is already going to lose, but while many fans love Costner and enjoy Yellowstone, who in Wyoming thinks he’s one of them?” Fleischer tweeted.
“It never ceases to amaze me how important Hollywood thinks it is,” he said.
Although Costner will undoubtedly be labeled a liberal or a socialist or a communist, the actor is actually an Independent.
He told the Daily Beast in 2020 that neither the Democratic or the Republican Party represented everything he thought so he votes for the person.
“I vote for who I think has the best interests of the country and how we sit in the world,” Costner said.
Although Cheney would surely like to have his vote, he cannot vote for the Wyoming congresswoman as he is a resident of Colorado.
