It was not a good night for a 49-year-old man from Lander, Wyoming.

The Michigan State Police said the unnamed man was jailed on Saturday night in Beulah, Michigan, for trying to run someone over with his pickup truck.

The arrested individual said someone tried to steal his truck and he was just trying to get it back.

The alleged truck thief disputes that, however, telling a Michigan newspaper he was merely trying to turn the radio down.

“A 47-year-old Silverdale, Washington, resident, woke to the blaring of early morning music on the street outside. He rose from bed and ventured out to find the Wyoming man’s seemingly abandoned pickup parked in the middle of the road with its driver’s side door open, lights on and radio blasting,” the newspaper reported.

He told the police that he reached inside the truck, turned the music down and put the keys on the front seat.

“He turned to head back to bed, but didn’t get far before a man ran at him screaming,” the reports reads. “The Washington man dialed 911 and made a run for it with the Wyoming man at his heels.”

Investigators told the news outlet that Wyoming man chased the Washington man on foot before getting into the truck and continuing the chase in his truck.

A Michigan TV station reported that the Wyoming man was found by troopers lying next to his damaged pickup truck. The state police said he wasn’t injured by was merely “resting.”

The Wyoming man is now facing a felonious assault charge.
