CASPER — Casper police are asking for the community’s help in finding a 41-year-old suspect believed to have stabbed an adult victim near E. 12th Street and S. Walsh Drive on Thursday night.
Casper police spokesperson Rebekah Ladd said officers responded to the scene at 7:30 p.m. for a reported assault with a knife.
“Officers located an adult victim who sustained injuries consistent with a stabbing,” she said. “Officers immediately rendered medical aid, and the victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.”
Police have named Nathanael West Wood of Casper the suspect in the attack. Ladd said an investigation showed that Wood and the victim knew each other. Police called the attack isolated.
Ladd told Cowboy State Daily that she was unable to answer questions about the victim’s injuries, age or sex or whether the stabbing happened on the street or at a home in the area.
She also declined to say whether Wood has had previous interactions with Casper police.
“At this time, that information is not available due to the active and ongoing investigation,” she said.
An online search shows that in 2012, Wood made headlines for pointing a gun at his girlfriend and spent time in prison for aggravated assault.
Wood is described as 5-foot, 9-inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
If seen, Ladd said, residents should call 911.
“Wood should be considered armed and dangerous,” Ladd said.
Attempts to reach a relative of Wood was not successful.
Investigators urge anyone with information to call Casper police at 307-235-8278 or Crime Stoppers of Central Wyoming at 307-577-8477. Anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers can also be sent to crimestopperscasper.org.
