Dear editor,
This morning wile enjoying my coffee I found myself struck by an article referencing a potential military zone on our border with Canada.
Senators continue playing off the immigration scare to get what they want.
What they want is our public hunting grounds in their hands to do as they please. I am very disappointed to see them attempting to militarize our border with our brethren in Canada.
It is wilderness prime migration land which has no business being patrolled. Since when did Wyomingites, Republican or Democrat have any interest in government overreach and intervention in our state or our neighbor states.
I find myself more and more unrepresented by those in Washington who claim our interest.
Furthermore, I am appalled by the deterioration of our relationship with Canada in general, and would greatly prefer to keep our borders as demilitarized as possible so as to foster a good and lasting relationship with a nation who has long been our friend and ally.
The elk, birds and deer should know no border and should be allowed to pass freely to our land from theirs unhindered by the petty disagreements of mankind.
It is our heritage and our future to be able to hunt and caretake this land. Let us not allow politicians in Washington to remove that right of stewardship from us.
Thank you,
Zack Byrne, Jackson
