Dear editor:
I enjoyed Bill Sniffin's column on Wyoming local Christmas gift opportunities. I'd like to add a few to that list.
First, Open Range Images gallery in Cody sells photographs of the stunning local landscapes and animals we have to enjoy.
All the photographers (there are 12) are local. The bricks and mortar store is open 5 days a week now (7 days in the 2 weeks prior to Christmas) and they also have a website: OpenRangeImages.com.
Two Wyoming authors that weren't included are Julia Cook whose most recent book is "Wild Wonders: The Untamed and Enigmatic Animals that Inhabit Yellowstone National Park," available at Legends Book store in Cody, and Cathy Ringler who's written "Miya's Dream" and "Miya's Mountain" for teens and young adults, also at Legends.
In Powell, there's Heartworks which is a crafter's community featuring art and crafts of all kinds, again, all by local residents. You can follow them on Facebook and see featured and new products as they become available.
There must be quite a few more local artists, authors and crafts people throughout Wyoming. I'd encourage everyone to locate those sources, which will be featured in independent stores and local craft fairs that are getting geared up now.
Sincerely,
Randi Slaughter,
Clark, Wyoming
