Nearly three months after a man was assaulted and seriously hurt at Guernsey State Park, park officials have released a photo of a man wanted for questioning in the ongoing investigation.
The man in the photo, pictured entering a convenience store, is believed to have attacked another man Aug. 9, said Park Ranger Captain Corey Jacobsen.
“We’ve followed every lead to no avail and are now asking for the public’s assistance,” Jacobsen said in a statement. “Even a small piece of information could make a big difference in helping us identify this individual and bring closure to the victim.”
The man and the victim apparently did not know each other, Jacobsen told Cowboy State Daily on Friday.
The man wanted for questioning was last seen as a passenger in a late-1990s Nissan pickup with an oversized slide-in camper that was driven by another male.
The vehicle is believed to have Wyoming registration beginning with “2T,” originating out of Laramie County.
Guernsey State Park features 19 campgrounds, 250 campsites, and an extensive network of trails.
The assault is being investigated by the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources, Division of State Parks’ law enforcement rangers, in cooperation with the Platte County Sheriff’s Department.
Anyone with information on the man or the vehicle is asked to contact Jacobsen at Corey.Jacobsen@wyo.gov or 307-331-3664; or Platte County Sheriff’s Department dispatch at 307-322-2331.
Jacobsen said people who encounter the man or spot the vehicle should not approach and instead should contact law enforcement.
