Dear editor:
As a life-long Wyomingite, I’m concerned that the Freedom Caucus has become openly anti-business at a time when Wyoming desperately needs growth and diversification.
The message coming out of Natrona County right now sounds like we don’t want new industries, new people, or new ways of doing things.
That’s not who we are — or at least, it shouldn’t be. Communities like ours have always thrived when we’ve welcomed innovation and investment.
But, if we keep telling the world we’re closed for business, we shouldn’t be surprised when companies decide to take their jobs and opportunities somewhere else.
Nor should we be surprised when our young people leave Wyoming for more and better job opportunities in communities that have the tax base to support the amenities they want in the places they choose to live.
What’s most frustrating is that many of the loudest voices in the Freedom Caucus are new to Wyoming and new to politics.
They don’t understand the balance, cooperation, and practicality that have always defined how Wyoming gets things done.
Those of us who have lived, worked, and built our lives here need to stand up and remind them what this state is about.
The Freedom Caucus’s obstruction isn’t just bad politics; it’s bad for our people. No industry means no jobs. No jobs mean no workforce. And without a workforce, there are no families, no kids, and no future.
Wyoming deserves better than to be held back by inexperience and ideology. Restore Wyoming values. Vote pro-business!
Vote the Freedom Caucus out of office.
Sincerely,
Kaycee Wiita, Casper
