I’ve been writing for a bit now about the possibility of a civil war. In fact, just awhile back I mentioned the world feeling a bit Handsmaid Tale-esque.
Then lo and behold, I leave a busy work week to turn on the weekend news and find people parading through the streets wearing crimson robes, holding signs saying, “My Crime: I used birth control.”
Another: “My crime: I am a scientist.”
Just another weekend in America these days, I guess…
Meanwhile the president discounts the credibility of such a movement with a news anchor, then posts memes of the protestors down below with him dumping waste from an airplane above. Another, is a picture of him in a crown.
Confusion and chaos abound.
The other side called it the “Hate America Protest” as they support Trump’s deployment of troops into major American cities.
But, this isn’t just something informal to be laughed off or meme’d at. The “No King” movement has websites, a logo, color scheme and held another earlier in summer this year. Clearly, it has money and organization behind it.
The volume of people attending the protests this weekend was notable. But the fact that they were able to attend a protest, shows we do not have a king.
The victim complex from the left is deafening.
Moreover, if you want to talk about “kings” of the establishment, how about Chuck Shumer, Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters and Bernie Sanders all serving over 30 years in Congress each? No term limits, just power.
President Trump may use the Insurrection Act to wield more authority, he pointed out in news interviews. He indicated to Fox News that he may, but would prefer not to, in these “unsafe” cities.
President Trump described that Democrats are seeking $1.5 trillion in federal funding for increased healthcare costs. Most of that, Trump said, is associated with illegal immigrant health care coverage. At a time when the government is shut down, extra scrutiny is being made with regard to spending.
Another line item getting some attention in this political war is Congresswoman Harriet Hageman and 35 Republicans’ letter to the IRS to remove transgender-related treatments from its roster of Affordable Care Act-covered medical services. This effort was taken with support from detransitioners like Chloe Cole who were harmed as minor children, unable to consent to life-altering decisions.
Cowboy State Daily previously reported Congresswoman Hageman saying, “I am proud to join my colleagues in a letter to the (U.S. Secretary of the Treasury) demanding that ‘gender-affirming care’ be removed from tax-advantaged medical expenses…We cannot let Americans unknowingly subsidize dangerous, radical treatments, especially when political violence like the assassination of Charlie Kirk shows where this ideology leads.”
More pointedly, she said - “Our children deserve protection, not experimentation.”
The reason Congresswoman Hageman and others are taking action on this issue is not to be divisive, it is to have common sense. Americans do not want to subsidize transgender-related procedures and drugs with their hard-earned tax dollars. Under Obamacare, that is exactly what is happening.
The correspondence Hageman and her colleagues sent to the IRS to remove these qualifications says a mental health crisis exists in the United States, and “transgender ideology” is seeing a “dangerous normalization and rapid spread.”
Society is waking up to some of the broader impacts of a world gone rogue. The problem is, there is no convincing either side. There are only protests, weaponization, lawsuits, money and wielded power.
The America we used to know appears to be folding in on itself in many respects. You’d think that peace agreement in the middle east would create an environment of calm, but instead the opposite feels present here.
It is time for government assistance to be truly for those who are the most needy in our society. The irony of a generation of blue-haired, misgendered, i-phone carrying whiners crying about their rights being stripped from them by a king, is not lost on most of us. But you keep up the good fight kiddos, and you keep America free exercising the rights we are so blessed to have in this free nation.
