Dear editor:
The “both sides are violent” argument ignores the facts and deflects from the true nature of what is happening in our nation.
The reaction to the murder of Charlie Kirk has resulted in more young people choosing to participate in the political process as well as joining in prayer vigils throughout the nation; not more violence.
Compare the current reactions to that of the death of George Floyd and the riots that followed and all the blaming of the entire nation for what happened to this man.
People who said “all lives matter” were screamed at and, in one case, a young woman was shot to death for saying those words.
When the Catholic school children were murdered in Minnesota, the left, Democrat politicians and the “mainstream media” mocked those who prayed. No riots took place; just sadness and supplications for healing.
The actions to silence those the left disagrees with and the celebrating of a murder is not what any American patriot would ever consider for the other side. There is no revenge taking place after the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Instead, there is the opposite occurring from his supporters and the recruitment of thousands of young people stepping up to be the next civic leaders with the same courage to debate as Charlie Kirk had.
Instead of retaliation, we pray for those we disagree with that they will turn from their ways and see the truth that G-d loves them and that they were created as is for his purpose.
When horrific events occur, some on the left blame “Christian nationalists.” So, is the violence caused by patriotic Americans who believe in God and live by his 10 commandments?
Those who continue to believe the notion that there is a high level of violence on both sides of the political spectrum and that somehow the anarchists who want to destroy our nation will “tone down” their rhetoric are not seeing the truth.
The solution is for more Americans to realize that there is a higher calling of morality and decency that our creator demands of us.
We must reject the evil around us through faith and understanding of the true nature of our being. We have a purpose that G-d has for our lives if we will only listen.
