Cassie Craven: Charlie Kirk And The Price of Truth

Columnist Cassie Craven writes, “You can take Charlie Kirk’s earthly life, and now he will be for the history books. You will rob him of the time with his beautiful, young family here on Earth. But as for his message on God, the nuclear family and country – you will never take his freedom."

A white t-shirt with boldface, black font, “FREEDOM,” lay upon Charlie Kirk’s body, the day he was shot and killed in Utah while delivering remarks on a campus. The price of telling the truth.

His efforts to logically unpack the illogical thinking of college students made him well-known. Many named him as a person instrumental in the reelection of President Trump.

Pundits predicted he would eventually run for president with charm a combination between Rush Limbaugh and Billy Graham.

But I always noticed that his deep understanding of biblical philosophy and history put him far and away above any academic he debated.

He made conservativism cool again for an entire generation of young kids trying to survive liberal overload, confusion and indoctrination.

He backed it up with facts, history and wit. He entered into college campuses to challenge leftist logic on issues like abortion, transgenderism and 1st amendment freedom head on, unapologetically and with rational common sense.

After President Trump ordered all flags at half-staff, Gov. Gordon released a statement touching upon Kirk’s exercise of his 1st amendment freedoms:

"I and all of Wyoming condemn today’s tragic killing of Charlie Kirk. Mr. Kirk leaves behind a wife and two beautiful children. Our country's greatness is founded in the rights guaranteed to us in the Constitution. As citizens, we must take this moment to reaffirm our commitment to protecting our ability to speak openly on our views without fear. Political violence must never be tolerated. We as a nation are diminished because of this senseless act."

The ability to speak openly on our views without fear.

They chip and chip away at it until someone is so powerful, all they can do is kill them…

But a bullet cannot silence a movement. In fact, it will embolden it. A shot through the throat cannot kill what is true. The devil runs the playground but God owns the building.

We read in Psalm 23, “Thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.” It doesn’t tell us that evil will not be there, waiting. It tells us, that we will overcome it.

A wise friend of mine told me last week, upon the passing of his father, that for believers, “Earth is the closest to hell we’ll ever be.” And for non-believers, Earth is the “closest to heaven” they’ll ever be.

Therefore, the truth-teller does not fear punishment. He does not pause to consider the toil or repercussion.

Not when he knows God is on his side. He speaks as though his life depends upon it, because he understands that it does. He understands that true life comes from the vine, and that the vine is truth. He understands that truly, this is all a test.

Charlie Kirk understood that for us to have a country, God and the family were essential. He, like many of us knew, that the lies they spew and bully us into parroting are giving away pieces of the truth that cannot be compromised.

To the leftists that proclaim that Republicans are the party of violence and intolerance, you’re wrong. Your agenda and the extremists dark forces you bring along with it, prey upon the weak, the vulnerable and the confused.

You shudder in the face of the truth and then you act like cowards to kill it because you know you cannot overcome it.

You cannot kill what stands up in the face of death.

You can take Charlie Kirk’s earthly life, and now he will be for the history books. You will rob him of the time with his beautiful, young family here on Earth. But as for his message on God, the nuclear family and country – you will never take his freedom. The words, blood stained that day will never die.

“You are commanded to do something productive with your life. To go give, and to produce and to risk, and to then go sow into other people. That is a biblical ideal that has made the world a profoundly better place.” – Charlie Kirk
