Dear editor,
Hopefully everyone had a great time celebrating the Fourth of July. It was the 249th birthday of our country. Now we get to kick-off all of the activities and get ready to celebrate the 250th celebration of the United States.
Gov. Gordon will take part in the ceremony on July 10th in Cheyenne which is also Wyoming Statehood Day to begin the Wyoming’s 250th celebration.
There will be a public rededication of Wyoming’s Liberty Bell replica at 4:00 p.m. and many other activities that day. Go to the website: wyoming250.com to find out more about all of the events planned for this year.
Mieke Madrid is chairing the Uinta 250 Semiquincentennial committee of which I serve on also, as well as members from Mt. View, Lyman, Bear River, and Uinta County.
They have been meeting monthly for a number of months to plan activities in Uinta County. Those activities will be announced soon.
There was a letter to the editor printed in Cowboy State Daily which said that the Uinta County 250th committee wanted to move the Fourth of July Parade next year to Evanston. This is blatantly untrue.
I have missed a couple of meetings due to legislative duties but the only time this came up in any conversation was how to get more Evanston folks to join in the Fourth of July parade in Ft. Bridger next year since it will be, and has always been, the crowning jewel in Independence Day activities in Uinta County.
I hope this letter will put this untruth to bed.
We are all proud of our country, our state and our county and we need to focus on how to unify and celebrate the accomplishments of the greatest country in the world.
Get ready for a wonderful year to celebrate 250th of the United States of America.
Sincerely,
Sen. Wendy Schuler
