Brief: ‘Shooter Has Been Located’ In Killing Of Pine Bluffs Crop Duster

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday identified the 52-year-old Pine Bluffs crop duster who was shot and killed Tuesday. Little information is being released as the agency investigates, but officials report that “the shooter has been located.”

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate how a crop duster in eastern Wyoming wound up shot to death.

The agency Thursday identified Kevin Hefley, 52, as the man who was killed Tuesday afternoon in rural Laramie County west of Pine Bluffs.

Hefley owned and operated Airtime Aerial LLC out of the Pine Bluffs Airport.

The Sheriff’s Office’s Thursday report says Hefley was pronounced dead at the scene and that no other information will be released at this time.

“This is an active ongoing investigation,” the department says.

Deputies responded to a call to the 1200 block of County Road 157about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A suspect has been identified, but it’s unclear if anyone has been arrested or charged.

“The shooter has been located. There is no ongoing risk to the public,” the LCSO reports. “Our deepest condolences go out to Kevin’s family and friends in this difficult time.”
