Authorities are seeking information about a Saturday evening shooting north of Rock Springs in which a man was shot in the neck, the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office says.

No arrests had been made in the shooting as of Monday morning.

Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday to a shooting in the 600 block of Antelope Drive north of Rock Springs, says a Monday statement by SCSO spokesman Jason Mower.

There, deputies found an adult male with a gunshot wound, says the statement. Mower clarified in a phone interview that the wound was located on the man’s neck, and that he’s 37 years old.

Medical personnel took the man to a local hospital before he was airlifted for additional treatment, the statement says.

There’s no threat to the public as this was an isolated incident, Mower told Cowboy State Daily.

The statement says detectives are investigating, and preliminary evidence suggests the shooting happened inside a home during a “possible disturbance between family members.”

Mower also told Cowboy State Daily that investigators have one person of interest in this case.

Authorities are withholding the identities of those involved and some additional details, the statement notes, adding that people with information about the incident should call Detective Matt Wharton at 307-922-5345 or whartonm@sweetwatercountywy.gov

“I’ve included as much as I possibly can in the release for now,” said Mower. “I think we have a reputation for being one of the most transparent and proactive law enforcement agencies across the state … so if we’re withholding certain pieces of information, it’s for a reason.”
