CHEYENNE — A 19-year-old man faces a second-degree murder charge in the shooting death of another teen around midnight Friday at a mobile home park just south of the city.
Nathan Pfaff’s murder charge was announced by the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon. A second person who was detained at the scene was detained is not a suspect in the shooting.
Pfaff reportedly “had a disagreement” with 18-year-old Ryan Snow, “which may have led to the shooting,” the LCSO reports.
“Sadly, Snow did not survive his injuries,” the report says.
No other details were released, including how many times Snow was shot and what he and Pfaff may have argued about.
The Call
Deputies responded to a 911 call of someone being hurt at about 12:15 a.m. at the West Winds mobile home park at 505 Williams St., the sheriff’s office reports.
"Deputies arrived to find one person had been shot," the agency reported Friday afternoon. "We are saddened to report that they have succumbed to their injuries."
At the scene for much of Friday, lot 145 of the park and its yellow ochre single-wide trailer were surrounded by crime-scene tape. Outside were multiple vehicles and investigators, including a truck from the Laramie County Coroner’s Office.
Increased Presence
There also was an increased law enforcement presence at the mobile home park Friday.
Along with multiple vehicles associated with the investigation parked in front of and around lot 145, three marked sheriff’s office vehicles and uniformed deputies were observed near the entrance of the mobile home park.
Laura Winter lives in West Winds one street over and was babysitting a friend’s children in the home directly behind lot 145 overnight and said she didn’t hear anything out of the ordinary.
She said that, for the most part, the mobile home park is generally peaceful. But, with so many people living close together, things can boil over now and then and everyone can overhear.
But she said that didn’t happen early Friday — at least that she noticed — adding she was surprised to find the investigation going on when she walked outside.
Everything seem normal at about 2:15 a.m., she said, “but I just woke up this morning to see all kinds of crime-scene tape all around.”
An affidavit of arrest outlining the details of the case against Pfaff hasn’t yet been filed with the Laramie County Circuit Court.
The 19-year-old has had a couple minor brushes with the law, court records show.
He has an open case of allegedly speeding more than 6 mph over the limit May 29. He also got a 30-day suspended jail sentence for underage possession of alcohol in June 2024.
