CHEYENNE — Laramie County Sheriff’s Office investigators remain at the scene of what appears to be an early morning incident that left one person dead in a mobile home park just south of city limits.

Sheriff Brian Kozak confirmed to Cowboy State Daily that “this is a homicide investigation,” and said more details will be released as the investigation allows.

He also said there appears to be no danger to the public and that two potential suspects have been detained. He declined to identify them at this stage of the investigation.

Just what happened in that mobile home in the early morning hours Friday is what the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office is trying to piece together.

Deputies responded to a 911 call of someone being hurt at about midnight, the sheriff’s office reports. The report added that the call was “concerning an injured individual” in the West Winds mobile home park at 505 Williams St.

What condition the injured person was in when deputies arrived wasn’t available.

At the scene Friday morning, lot 145 of the park and its yellow ochre single-wide trailer are surrounded by crime-scene tape. Outside are multiple vehicles and investigators, including a truck from the Laramie County Coroner’s Office.

Also, a technician from the office with a camera was seen going into and out of the trailer.

What Happened?

People living in the area can expect that “law enforcement personnel will maintain a presence in the area throughout the day,” the sheriff’s office reports.

Along with multiple vehicles associated with the investigation parked in front of and around lot 145, three marked sheriff’s office vehicles and uniformed deputies were observed near the entrance of the mobile home park.

Laura Winter lives in West Winds one street over and was babysitting a friend’s children in the home directly behind lot 145 overnight and said she didn’t hear anything out of the ordinary.

She said that, for the most part, the mobile home park is generally peaceful. But, with so many people living close together, things can boil over now and then and everyone can overhear.

But she said that didn’t happen early Friday — at least that she notice — adding she was surprised to find the investigation going on when she walked outside.

Everything seem normal at about 2:15 a.m., she said, “but I just woke up this morning to see all kinds of crime-scene tape all around.”

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is available.
