There’s still no sign of a Sheridan man who went missing more than a month ago. A two-day weekend search that included five K-9 teams and cadaver dogs turned up no new clues.

A series of mysterious clues hasn’t done much to point out to police or family what happened to 53-year-old James Galloway of Sheridan, who has been missing nearly a month. He typically calls his daughter daily, but hasn’t since April 30 and missed her graduation Sunday.

A Sheridan man remains missing after an intense two-day search by the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office that was based on reported sightings of him more than a month ago.

James “Bo” Galloway, 53, was last seen by family April 30 and reported missing to the Sheridan Police Department on May 5. His three unattended dogs, vehicle and cellphone were found at his home.

His family says falling off the radar without a trace is completely out of character for Galloway and that they’re very worried he hasn’t been in touch.

The Sheridan County sheriff and Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation have since joined efforts to find Galloway, including conducting a search Saturday and Sunday that used search and rescue volunteers and five K-9 teams.

The search encompassed about 600 acres of terrain between his home off Westview Drive along the Big Goose Creek and the Sheridan County Airport, according to a Monday statement from the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office.

Multiple Sightings

This search area was chosen based on suspected sightings of Galloway, who may have been seen trespassing within the fenced area of airport property May 2.

This sighting also follows multiple reports from homeowners in the area between Galloway’s home and the airport who reported seeing someone who looked like him walking through their properties over the previous several weeks, the sheriff’s office reports.

Despite the use of cadaver dogs in the search for Galloway, the sheriff’s office said there’s no evidence at this point to suggest he is no longer alive and that the search will continue.

“The investigation remains ongoing and additional coordinated search efforts are anticipated,” according to the statement, which encourages anyone with tips or information to contact their office.

Family On Edge

Galloway’s ex-wife and close friend Jaime Banks said that the sheriff’s office called her after the search and is keeping her and the family informed on any developments in Galloway’s disappearance.

She and her two daughters — including Galloway’s only biological daughter Madelyn and stepdaughter Kiara Coen — continue to hope for the best.

Banks was one of the last people to see him during which he told her he thought his life might be in danger.

Mysterious clues found at his rental home, including his cellphone and backpacks full of rocks found in his backyard, only add to the mystery for the family and police.

Banks was married to Galloway for 17 years, and despite their divorce remains close friends with her ex-husband. All of them are taking his disappearance hard, she said, as they continue to pray for answers.

Madelyn and her father are extremely close, Banks noted, which intensified their worry when he failed to show up for her high school graduation in late May.

“To say it’s been hard, is putting it very mildly,” Banks told Cowboy State Daily on Monday night. “I never thought in my lifetime I would ever have to experience this.”

Madelyn also taking her father’s disappearance exceptionally hard.

She’s on a post-graduation trip to Mexico, but has been texting Banks regularly to check in and tell her mom how much she misses her dad.

“This is a ‘boo-boo’ that I can’t kiss and make better for Maddie,” Banks said. “There’s no way in a million galaxies would I ever be able to come close to kissing it better.”

Banks said she and her family are grateful for the support of law enforcement and all the searchers who have stepped forward to help.

Galloway is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs around 182 pounds with gray hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheridan Police Department at 307-672-2413. Anonymous tips can also be submitted on the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation’s website.
