Dear editor:
I read Chris Brown's Letter to the Editor and had several questions.
First, who or what is Powering Up Wyoming?
After going to their website, one finds that they are basically lobbying for the renewable sector with a shot of private property rights in their cocktail.
When one asks Google who owns Powering Up Wyoming you get this response, "Powering Up Wyoming is a joint effort with no single owner. It's a collaboration involving various entities focused on promoting and supporting renewable energy development in Wyoming. The Power Company of Wyoming LLC, an affiliate of The Anschutz Corporation, is a key player in this initiative."
"Additionally, individuals like Gunnar Malm, a real estate agent and Laramie County Commissioner, are involved in promoting renewable energy and its benefits for the state. The Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project, a major part of Powering Up Wyoming, is being developed by the Power Company of Wyoming."
So, yet again, even though they claim to be homegrown, it is, in fact, being driven by out of state money, with some homegrown lobbying.
Chuck Gray is right, and so are many others.
It's time to stop permitting these so called renewable energy developments that take up so much land and leave our state looking like a scene from some post apocalyptic movie like "The Blood of Heroes."
Sincerely,
Richard Nielsen, Gillette
