Dear editor,

We were sitting in a coffee shop here in Wyoming having a political discussion. My friend is a pro-choice Democrat. I am a pro-life Republican.

He asked me, “When do you believe, human life begins?” I responded, “At the moment of conception. That is why I am pro-life.”

Turning the question back to him I asked, “When do you believe human life begins?” “At the moment of conception,” he replied.

This did not surprise me. His answer was unsettling.

I had to ask. “So you believe that it is okay for a woman to terminate another human life to protect her convenience?”

He said “Yes.”

This is the essence of the decision that the Wyoming Supreme Court will hear, starting with oral arguments on April 16th.

Amendment 14 of the US Constitution bars the government from depriving a person of life. At the moment of conception, a new person begins.

They may have yet to graduate from high school or even pass through the birth canal but they exist.

Will the Wyoming Supreme Court find some reason that the state of Wyoming should violate the 14 Amendment of the US Constitution or will they uphold it?

Is killing a child in the womb “healthcare”? This is also a decision they will be considering.

I suppose you could argue that entering a woman's body to terminate another human's life is a medical procedure.

Whether that process is done chemically or surgically it is the same results. It is the deprivation of the child’s 14th Amendment right.

I encourage people all over Wyoming, pray that a child’s right to life be upheld by the Wyoming Supreme Court.

I encourage the Court to honor the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution.

Thank you,

Ted Davis, Sundance
