The Casper Police Department reports it’s investigating a “suspicious death” in a southside neighborhood, but almost no other details about what may have happened.

A report issued by the department late Saturday says officers were dispatched to the 800 block of West 53rd Street in Casper at about 5:45 p.m. and found an adult man dead inside the home.

“At this time, this incident is being investigated as a suspicious death,” police report. “Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.”

At 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Lt. Seth Wheeler, who sat is a patrol car at the scene along with additional law enforcement vehicles outside the residence where the man was discovered, said new information likely will not be released until Monday.

Wheeler said he was not able to answer any questions because it wasn’t his investigation.

“Investigators are still investigating, and evidence technicians and evidence custodians are still processing the scene,” he said.

A neighbor across the street and up the block from the residence said he was working Saturday night and did not know anything about the incident or the names of those who lived there. No one answered a door at a home directly across from the scene of the investigation.

Information about the cause of death or whether it’s being investigated as a potential criminal incident, and if so, whether any arrests have been made or suspects identified, was not yet available Sunday afternoon.

Natrona County property records show the home is owned by a person who does not live at the property. An attempt to reach the property’s owner was not immediately returned.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is available.
