President Trump and Elon Musk held a press conference Feb. 11 to discuss the goals and progress of DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency. The goal – according to Musk – is to “restore democracy” because “if the bureaucracy is in charge, then what meaning does democracy actually have?”
Republicans in Congress on the same day announced a new federal secrets declassification task force.
“Distrust in our institutions” ends today, said Rep. James Comer, R-Kentucky, who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
A government system impugning our sovereignty and living in the shadows is now bleeding sunshine. The fallout is incredible.
In lieu of a large unelected bureaucracy, our elected officials seem to be pursuing truth and recreating a government that is responsive to the people. That is the point of democracy after all.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Florida, categorized it as, “A new relationship between the government and the governed.” Then she dropped a bombshell about the JFK assassination after reviewing evidence from it, saying she believes there were two shooters.
The JFK assassination will be the first investigation the new watchdogs conduct, to be followed by the Epstein list, Martin Luther King Jr’s assassination, and others.
Transparency abounds.
Hours later, Musk called for a complete revamp of government protocols and downsizing, saying basic controls that exist in business don’t exist with the federal government.
For example, basic descriptions of payments are lacking. “You can’t reconcile blank checks,” Musk said. “We are talking about adding common sense controls that should be present, that haven’t been present.”
Even the most cursory examination of the social security files uncovered that some people were 150 years old and still collecting. Obvious fraud exists. Musk described the need to shift government employees to high-productivity roles which will create a higher standard of living for everyone.
“The people voted for major government reform” – Republicans won the house, senate and the presidency, he noted. “The people are going to get what they voted for. And that is what democracy is all about.”
President Trump said “tens of millions of dollars” in fraud has already been found. He was critical of a “judge who is an activist” that wants them “to stop looking.”
“I see a lot of kickback here,” said the president. “Nobody could be so stupid as to give out these contracts…He wants us to stop looking. We’ve already found it.”
One example provided was a New York hotel that was paid $59 million to house illegal migrants. They were charging twice the normal room rate.
When questioned about his own beneficial interest with Space X’s government contracts, Musk said, “I fully expect to be scrutinized and get a daily proctology exam.”
But Musk isn’t the only one getting checked – just three weeks into his presidency, Trump has already been subjected to over 45 lawsuits and counting, ranging from issues regarding “birthright citizenship” to his failure to accommodate an adult transgender woman incarcerated in a low security federal prison for women and currently awaiting transport to a men’s facility after one of President Trump’s many executive orders.
Get out your popcorn and cool your heels. You thought the world was crazy before, just hold on. This week I’ve watched an executive order prohibiting paper straws. I like this stuff, but even I was feeling as though I were watching a Saturday Night Live skit. Politics is becoming stranger than fiction.
But the extremists asked for this. If you need proof of that, watch the unedited CBS 60 Minutes full form interview where Kamala Harris bumbles over her word salad and the press props her up and edits her answers. Trump’s lawsuit against them is still alive and the damage request is now up to $20 billion. People have had it with the façade.
But even Wyoming is not immune from façade. We started the week with a former Speaker of the House, who called our now Secretary of State a “little fu****g f****t” on a hot mic, cry babying over an op-ed that struck a nerve. Get a hair cut and get a grip. You look sad and desperate.
Sue. Censure. Kick and scream a little louder. The good guys won’t stand down. In fact, they’ll keep standing up for truth over and over again. Because our will to win is not for sale.
And by the way, I hate paper straws too. If you use them, you ain’t no cowboy.
