Dear editor:
I am extremely frustrated by Sen. Olsen's decision to co-sponsor HB0199, which diverts funds from public schools to unregulated recipients.
While I fully support educational freedom, this move is akin to diverting taxes that fund public buses to give money to people for an Uber-and, even more damning, not making sure they even got to their destination.
If someone chooses not to use a public service and can afford alternatives, they should fund it themselves, not at the expense of vital public resources.
This is a betrayal of the public trust and a disservice to the people who rely on these essential services.
Public funds should be used to strengthen services that benefit all, not handed out without accountability. Sen. Olsen's support for this bill demonstrates a clear disregard for the needs of your constituents, and a contradiction of the values he campaigned on.
I expect better from Sen. Olsen as my elected representative. He should be fighting to protect public resources, not undermine them.
