Rod Miller: When You Vote in Wyoming, Ignore the Fear-Mongering

Despite all the hot air and static coming from the Trumpian wing of the Wyoming Republican Party, elections in the Cowboy State are impeccable. In the current millennium, there have been only three cases – THREE CASES – of verified voter fraud in Wyoming, and all three were caught and dealt with.

Out of the millions of votes cast by Wyomingites since 2000, only three were fraudulent. Let that sink in.

A very timely resolution from the Natrona County GOP Central Committee reminds us all of this fact. God bless ‘em for the reminder.

But, according to Oral Eathorne’s Wyoming GOP Bund and the Park County Republican Men’s Full Gospel Gun & Glee Club, our elections are rife with crime. And according to Li’l Chucky Gray, since Colorado and the Big Elsewhere seem to have problems running secure elections, we in Wyoming are similarly threatened.

Horseshit!

The power-mad zealots in the Wyoming Republican Party are attempting to create irrational fear among us about election security, and to use that fear to coax us to give them more power over us. The facts argue against them, and they are simply incapable of disproving those facts.

Election fear-mongering is a fairly new and caustic campaign tactic, and employed by Trump when he lost the 2020 election. Sixty or so court cases later, his fears have proven unfounded and his legal team made to look like blithering fools.

Sadly, that doesn’t prevent Eathorne, Gray and their minions from trying to use fear as a preemptive weapon in Wyoming’s elections this year. Again, thanks to the Natrona County contingent for calling ‘em out on their horseshit.

While we’re at it, we should give a big vote of thanks to Wyoming’s County Clerks, those perennial burrs under Li’l Chucky’s saddle, for being the real grassroots warriors for election security, and for producing a record of safe elections unmatched anywhere else in our republic.

Anyone disparaging our clerks for their performance has suffered a mental break from reality.

If Colorado or any other state can’t equal Wyoming’s unmatched record of election integrity, that’s no skin off our collective nose. Quite frankly, I don’t give a rat’s ass what happens in Colorado. I live and vote in Wyoming, where only qualified citizens can vote.

When someone raises a fairy tale straw man to provoke fear among Wyomingites about our elections, they are barking up the wrong tree and trying to spook the wrong people. Shame on those ‘fraidy cat knuckleheads!

Here in the Big Empty, we take care of our own business and leave others to take care of theirs. If that isn’t in the Cowboy Code, it damn well should be.

Likewise, when some Chicken Little runs around with their feathers on fire, screaming “it’s happening in Colorado, it can happen here,” we tend to laugh at ‘em, and to piss on the fire to put it out. Like the Natrona County GOP did.

On Tuesday, qualified Wyoming voters will march into the voting booth and take the next step in our Great Experiment, just as our ancestors did. I have no idea what the outcome will be.

But I do know, and so can you, that the sanctity of our votes will be protected from any skullduggery, whether that skullduggery comes from Oral Eathorne, Li’l Chucky Gray, Colorado or anywhere else.

That’s just how we do things in Wyoming.
