A man with multiple warrants pulled over by a Natrona County Sheriff’s Office deputy got out out of his car late Sunday morning, showed a firearm, and fired it into the air.

The deputy and other officers pursued the suspect north of the CY Avenue and SW Wyoming Boulevard location on Wyoming Boulevard, where the suspect pulled over, showed officers the weapon and then took his own life, according to a Natrona County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Sheriff Department spokesperson Kiera Hett reported in the release that the Natrona County Coroner’s Office was notifying next of kin and would release further information.

“In the duration of this incident, there was no discharge of a firearm by deputies or law enforcement officers,” Hett reported.  “Due to the involvement of multiple area law enforcement agencies, this incident remains under investigation by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.”

A spokesman at the Casper DCI office said he had no information to share because they had just received the case and the “investigation is ongoing.”

The Natrona County Coroner’s Office did not immediately return a phone call.
