Based on the success of Cowboy State Daily’s morning video newscast with Wendy Corr, we are expanding our multimedia offerings to include a morning radio/video talk show.

The show will air every Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will be anchored by Cowboy State Daily’s Jake Nichols, a longtime broadcaster who has been on the air for decades in Wyoming.

If you recognize his name, that’s probably because Jake's been writing for us for the past two years and his stories are among the highest-read on our site.

Plus, he appeared alongside Wendy to discuss the program on last week's episode of "The Roundup," Cowboy State Daily's weekly podcast.

The show — which can be viewed on Cowboy State Daily’s website, YouTube, and podcasting platforms — premieres on Tuesday, October 1.

Although the presentation is a classic radio talk show, you'll be able to see it on video as well.

You'll see Jake in the studio as well as the guests that he brings on.

Everyone's Participating

Our reporters, columnists, and newsmakers will be a big part of the experience.

For example, Mark Heinz’ story from Saturday about the opening of the one-room schoolhouse in an area of Wyoming known as “Little Siberia” is a terrific read. The video our videographer Reilly Strand put together is fantastic as well.

On Tuesday, Jake will have Mark on the show to discuss that story.

The same goes for any interesting story we write. Our plan is to get the reporters and the people featured in the story on the program to discuss them.

We are quite fortunate to have so many quality journalists in all corners of the state working for us, so it will be a true Wyoming talk show.

Mitch Semel

We’ve also been fortunate to have Mitch Semel guide our multimedia projects.

Mitch’s amazing background as an executive producer on network television, cable TV, and in the digital space has allowed us to create a product that is major-market quality.

In fact, Mitch was on the team that brought Howard Stern’s radio show to video years ago. No one knows how to do this better than Mitch.

If Mitch sounds familiar, you may have seen him on our podcast a couple months ago. It's worth the watch.

We Keep Growing

It’s been an incredible two-and-a-half years for Cowboy State Daily. We’re the only Wyoming news organization that is “always on” — seven days a week.

And our readership reflects that. Not only do we have the largest audience in the state, but earlier this month, we topped 80,000 subscribers to our newsletter and we have more than 143,000 followers on Facebook.

Based on unique visitors, Cowboy State Daily is larger than any news organization in Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Only two surrounding states, Colorado and Utah, have news organizations with more readers.

It’s the quality of our reporting that makes a difference and we’re grateful to everyone who reads or watches our news product.

Now, we hope you’ll listen to - and watch - our morning talk show with Jake as well.
