I figured there was nothing Liz Cheney could do to make me regret my three votes for her more than I already did.

But, I was wrong.

What could possibly be worse than her jihad against President Donald Trump, vowing to do whatever she could to keep him out of the Oval Office, and serving as one of two Nancy Pelosi-approved “Republicans” on the ridiculous, Hollywood-produced January 6 Committee?

And wouldn't losing her primary in 2022 to Harriet Hageman by 37 points take the anti-Trump fire out of her crusade in the state that voted almost 70 percent for Trump in 2020?

No.

Liz – and her father - announced last week that they will be voting for Kamala Harris, the same Kamala Harris that Liz in 2020 dubbed “a radical liberal.”

In an Aug. 11, 2020 post on Twitter, Liz Cheney said, “Kamala Harris is a radical liberal who would raise taxes, take away guns and health insurance, and explode the size and power of the federal government. She wants to recreate America in the image of what's happening on the streets of Portland and Seattle. We won't give her the chance.”

This year, however, Liz and her dad will be voting for Harris.

In the immortal words of Gomer Pyle, “Shazam!”

They give new meaning to the words “Hell hath no fury.”

Their hatred for Trump has driven them into the arms of a radical liberal, and against the basic conservative beliefs they espoused for years. You have to wonder what has become of the once-vaunted Cheney legacy in Wyoming.

But, it is what it is.

Good luck with those Democrats, Liz. They hated your dad, calling him Darth Vader.

Meanwhile, back here in Wyoming, the folks who clutched their pearls over the lack of civility leading up to the primary can't be happy today with the reaction of some of their losing colleagues.

Rep. Tony Niemiec of Green River, the farther-left Republican incumbent, lost to the farther-right Republican Marlene Bray. Niemiec did not congratulate Bray on her victory, and went on to say this:

“My opponent doesn't have the guts or the brains to make this state work. I'll be back and I won't be as tolerant of the weakness, the mindlessness, and the lies. Marlene Bray is a dishonest person. She will be a one-term failure.”

Tolerant?  Looks like some farther-left Republican sour grapes, and the hand wringers can't be pleased with this unpleasantness.

Then the Joint Labor and Health Committee decided last week to adjourn early for the session, effectively killing a proposed bill that would have prohibited the use of state funds on sexually-explicit events.

Who on earth wants our tax dollars spent on sexually-explicit events? Especially at a time when many are reeling from rising property taxes? This is one of those issues that gets under the skin of common sense conservatives. But seven farther-left members of the committee voted to adjourn early, killing the proposed bill.

They apparently didn't learn the lesson of August 20th.

- In an email, a regular reader predicts that with the success of the Freedom Caucus in the primary, the depleted farther-left Republicans will be out for bear (so to speak) in the next legislative session.

“The majority that has been voted into office has a huge challenge in front of them, given the special interest forces aligned against them,” he wrote.

He can't remember a Wyoming governor endorsing a slate of candidates in previous elections (not including, by the way, any Freedom Caucus members). So the governor will be right there with the Wyoming Caucus folks, and their special interest friends, to oppose the Freedom Caucus.

“Like the left that they are part of,” he wrote, “they will play the long game and rationalize that the ends (regaining power) justify the means.”

And it will be essential, he writes, that the Freedom Caucus “make some clear progress on a  few things while not over-reaching,” “create their own messaging/narrative” and “grow their roots deep into their constituencies to build a base that will withstand the onslaught.”

Well said.

Our Freedom Caucus friends better batten down the hatches for the storm to come.
