Dear editor,
I've been reading the discussion regarding vaccination requirements in medical facilities and in nursing programs.
Covid-19 vaccination and testing are the typical ones attacked.
Most programs also require TB testing; MMR, hep B, chicken pox, Tdap, and flu vaccinations for their programs.
Actual current written proof is required before students can be admitted into these programs.
Sure the student can opt out but doing so would make their success in the program and employment limited.
Plus Eastern Wyoming College requires pre-exposure rabies vaccination for students in their veterinary technology/assistant programs.
As the 2025 legislature approaches, bills will be brought up regarding vaccination and testing.
We need to be thinking carefully as to what the fallout could be if our healthcare workers are not required to be vaccinated and/or tested for preventable disease. This affects our lives as well as the lives of healthcare workers.
Respectfully,
Deana Baker
