Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported the victim had been killed on scene.

A Lander, Wyoming, resident called police early Friday to report multiple gunshots from within an apartment complex.

Officers investigated and determined one person had been shot, and the shooter had taken his or her own life, according to a Friday statement by the Lander Police Department.

The department is not identifying the victim or the deceased shooter at this time because of the ongoing investigation. There's no threat to the community or surrounding areas, says the statement.

"This was an isolated event that was handled by Lander P.D. and remains under investigation at this time," the statement says.

Anyone with information can contact Detective Sgt. Randy Lutterman at 307-332-3401, extension 7.
