A Texas man accused of photographing an 8-year-old girl’s private areas at the Teton County Carnival in late July pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

William Ewan Brennan IV, 41, did not add any additional statements as attorney Rachel Weksler delivered his “not guilty” plea to one count of attempted felony voyeurism during an arraignment in Teton County District Court.

Brennan, who has been out on bond since early August, appeared at the hearing via video link.

Teton County District Court Judge Melissa Owens set Brennan’s jury trial for three days starting Jan. 6, though that’s a tentative setting with other cases potentially taking priority over this one.

The investigation started July 26 at the Teton County Fairgrounds, when a man told Jackson Police Cpl. Paul Jacobson that he’d just seen another man shooting photographs up the shorts of an “obviously juvenile” female, according to an affidavit filed in the case.

Later, Jackson Police Department Sgt. Kyle Foster found Brennan standing in line behind the same girl, who was about 7 or 8, and witnessed Brennan aiming his phone up the girl’s shorts with the camera app on, the document alleges.

Brennan voiced surprise when police confronted him, reportedly asking, “It’s a felony?”

Brennan’s case is ongoing.
