Update: As of Tuesday evening, there was still no information available about who the suspects are and what criminal charges they may face.

CASPER — Three men were hospitalized and face as-yet unspecified criminal charges stemming from an early morning crash Tuesday following an assault at a gas station that led to a high-speed police chase on Interstate 25.

Natrona County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kiera Hett told Cowboy State Daily that deputies were conferring with the Natrona County District Attorney's Office about potential charges that could be filed against he men.

She said the incident began when officers were called to the Loaf ’N Jug on Curtis Street on a report of an assault at about 3:50 a.m.

“The report was of a physical fight, there was not any report of weapons,” Hett said.

Three men involved in the assault then got into a vehicle and drove north on Curtis Street, she said.

Deputies spotted the suspect vehicle involved in the assault shortly after the call and the driver of the car took off at a high rate of speed and pulled onto the interstate headed north.

The vehicle crashed after negotiating the Bryan Stock Trail exit. It could be seen near the entrance ramp to the freeway Tuesday morning and was towed away by midday.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol has taken over the crash investigation. Calls to the agency were not returned by publication time.

All three of the men in the car were transported to Banner Wyoming Medical Center. Hett said she did not know if there were any life-threatening injuries, nor did she have information on the type of vehicle involved.

Hett said she did not know what the physical assault at the Loaf ’N Jug was all about, and an investigation is ongoing by the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office.

It’s also not known the condition of the person allegedly assaulted at the convenience store.

The off ramp to I-25 was blocked northbound and southbound at milepost 186 much of Tuesday morning as the crash was investigated, Hett said.

Casper Police Department and the Evansville Police Department also assisted in the initial response to the assault call, Hett said.
