Accused of having his dog perform oral sex on him, possessing more than 100 child pornography videos and secretly filming females in a bathroom, a Wheatland man faces a potential prison sentence of more than a century.
Jason Allen Johnson, who turns 44 this year, is charged with 10 counts of possessing child pornography (punishable by up to 10 years in prison and fines of $10,000 each), seven counts of voyeurism (up to five years and $5,000 each) and one count of bestiality (up to one year in jail and $1,000 in fines).
His case rose to the felony-level Platte County District Court on Thursday, where it is ongoing.
The investigation began Oct. 12, 2023, when a Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation team that investigates sex crimes received a cyber tip indicating a Wyoming cellphone had uploaded child pornography.
Many messaging and platform services notify law enforcement when they detect child pornography.
The file depicts a male performing a sex act on a nude prepubescent female, according to the evidentiary affidavit filed Feb. 15 in Johnson’s case.
Another cyber tip surfaced Nov. 24, 2023, followed by a third Dec. 5, 2023, both alerting investigators to multiple files downloaded to that same cellphone number showing prepubescent or early pubescent minors engaged in sex acts and exhibitions, the affidavit says.
Secretly Recording
Special Agent Brett Kniss asked Verizon for information on the account, and Verizon said it belonged to Jason A Johnson, of Wheatland, the affidavit says.
Kniss then served a search warrant to the account and downloaded their content.
He found about 150 child pornography videos, the affidavit says.
Seven of the videos showed females in a bathroom who appeared to be “surreptitiously recorded.”
“These videos appear to have been recorded by a cellphone from underneath a bathroom door,” the affidavit says. The females were dressing or showering.
The videos’ data said they spanned from 2018 to 2021, the affidavit says.
There’s The Dog
While reviewing the account, Kniss found several images of a husky breed dog in a green-colored collar.
The affidavit says in one video, Johnson sprays what looks like canned easy cheese on his genitals and allows the dog to lick the cheese off his genitals. The video’s embedded GPS coordinates allegedly place the video at Johnson’s home.
An identifying circular tattoo below Johnson’s knee is “partially visible” in the dog video, the affidavit says.
Admissions, Allegedly
Kniss obtained a search warrant for Johnson’s home Feb. 13.
Two days alter, DCI agents and Platte County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed the search warrant, making contact with Johnson and searching his home, person and vehicle.
Johnson admitted to having child pornography on his smartphone, to secretly recording females and to letting his dog lick cheese off his genitals, the affidavit says.
Agents arrested Johnson and took him to the Platte County Detention Center.
