Riverton police are asking for tips about what led to a man being found dead near a local church Monday.
Officers were summoned to the area of an Episcopal church at midday Monday when someone reported seeing a “possible male” lying near the road, according to a statement the Riverton Police Department dispatched Tuesday and Cowboy State Daily observations on scene.
Officers arrived and determined the person was dead, and detectives are investigating.
“Additional information may be released when it becomes available,” says the statement.
The department is asking anyone with information to call RPD detectives at 307-856-4891.
Cowboy State Daily arrived on scene near the church about noon Monday to find North Sixth Street taped off from one end of the block to the other.
A Catholic private school sits on the adjacent block, and a Lutheran private school is located another block to the west.
RPD did not immediately provide further information, such as whether there's a danger to the public, whether investigators suspect foul play or how the man may have died.
