When a Cheyenne man allegedly tried to rob a local gym, the gym’s customers tackled him and pinned him down until police arrived, says an arrest report.
Brand Burke Creel, 37, faces felony robbery charges and two misdemeanors.
Creel ran into Gold’s Gym in Cheyenne at about 6 p.m. Friday. He approached the front desk, said he had a bomb and wanted access to the cash drawer, says the Cheyenne Police Department’s probable cause report.
The worker told Creel no.
So Creel went up to a male customer at the gym and punched him twice, according to the report.
The man tackled Creel and held him on the ground in a neck restraint while waiting for officers to arrive.
Officer Reece Federer arrived on scene and found multiple customers holding Creel down, the report says.
“Creel was nonsensical(ly) rambling and breathing very heavy,” wrote Federer.
But First, An Alleged Carjacking
Customers and employees at the gym said Creel had tried to “carjack” a vehicle in the parking lot just before going into the gym, the report relates.
Creel approached a vehicle as its driver sat inside it, opened the driver’s side door, reached in and pulled the driver out of the vehicle, the report says.
The document alleges that Creel then got into the driver’s seat and tried to drive away, but found the keys weren’t in the ignition.
