It’s Tuesday, April 18 – and winter is still holding on in the high country. Light snow is possible for basins and valleys, but a majority of the accumulations will be in the mountains. Showers and thunderstorms will cover much of the state today, bringing strong winds.

It’s Tuesday, April 18 – and winter is still holding on in the high country. Light snow is possible for basins and valleys, but a majority of the accumulations will be in the mountains. Showers and thunderstorms will cover much of the state today, bringing strong winds. In fact, high wind warnings are in effect today in the southeast corner of the Cowboy State – so plan your travel carefully!

Central:

Partly sunny and windy today in Casper, with a high near 63 and wind gusts as high as 44 mph; scattered showers possible in the afternoon. Scattered showers are expected today in Lander, otherwise partly sunny, with a high near 51; breezy, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Scattered rain showers this afternoon in Jeffrey City, mixing with snow in the late afternoon; otherwise partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 47 and wind gusts as high as 33 mph. 

Casper could see some isolated showers and thunderstorms tonight, with a low around 31; windy, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Mostly clear and windy overnight in Lander, with a low around 23 and winds gusting as high as 37 mph. Partly cloudy and windy in Jeffrey City overnight, with a low around 20 and wind gusts as high as 39 mph.

Southwest:

Mostly cloudy today in Rock Springs, with rain and snow showers likely and some thunder also possible; windy, with a high near 47 and wind gusts as high as 41 mph. Evanston could see 1 to 2 inches of new snow today, with some thunder also possible, and a high near 39. 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected today in Kemmerer, with some thunder possible, and a high near 40; windy, with gusts as high as 40 mph. 

Mostly cloudy overnight in Rock Springs, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 20; windy, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Mostly cloudy in Evanston tonight, with a low around 14 and wind chill values as low as 2; breezy, with winds gusting as high as 33 mph. Partly cloudy and windy overnight in Kemmerer, with a low around 8 and wind chill values as low as -5; winds could gust as high as 37 mph.

Western Wyoming:

Rain and snow showers are likely in Star Valley today, with less than an inch of snow possible this afternoon; breezy, with a high near 41 and wind gusts as high as 23 mph. Pinedale could see 1 to 2 inches of new snow today, with some thunder also possible, and a high near 36; breezy, with wind gusts as high as 30 mph. 1 to 2 inches of snow with some thunder possible today in Afton, with a high near 40; breezy, with winds gusting as high as 21 mph. 

Isolated snow showers are expected tonight in Star Valley, with some thunder also possible, and a low around 13; breezy, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Mostly cloudy tonight in Pinedale, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 7 and wind chill values as low as -5; blustery, with winds gusting as high as 34 mph. Isolated snow showers with some thunder possible tonight in Afton, otherwise partly cloudy, with a low around 11. 

Northwest:

Snow showers are likely this afternoon in Dubois (less than a half inch expected), with some thunder also possible; otherwise partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 45 and wind gusts as high as 34 mph. Jackson could see 1 to 2 inches of new snow today, with some thunder also possible, and a high near 42; breezy, with winds gusting as high as 24 mph. Snow showers are likely in Yellowstone National Park this afternoon (less than half an inch expected), with some thunder also possible; otherwise mostly sunny and breezy, with a high near 43 and wind gusts as high as 28 mph. 

Isolated snow showers are expected tonight in Dubois, with some thunder also possible; otherwise partly cloudy and windy, with a low around 16 and winds gusting as high as 45 mph. Scattered snow showers with some thunder are possible overnight in Jackson, with a low around 15; breezy, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Around an inch of new snow is possible tonight in Yellowstone, with some thunder also possible, and a low around 17; blustery, with winds gusting as high as 30 mph. 

Bighorn Basin:

Showers are likely in Thermopolis today, with isolated showers and thunderstorms later in the afternoon, and a high near 55; breezy, with wind gusts as high as 29 mph. Worland can expect scattered showers this afternoon, with some of the storms producing gusty winds as high as 21 mph; gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 54. Scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon in Cody, with a high near 53; breezy, with gusts as high as 25 mph. 

Thermopolis can expect scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening, with a low around 31; windy, with gusts as high as 36 mph. There’s a chance of rain and snow showers overnight in Worland (less than half an inch possible), with some thunder also possible, and a low around 29; blustery, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Cody can expect scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight, with a low around 30; very windy, with gusts as high as 55 mph. 

North Central:

Showers are likely today in Buffalo, with showers and thunderstorms possible this afternoon, otherwise partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 51 and winds gusting as high as 24 mph; new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. There’s a chance of rain and thunderstorms this afternoon in Sheridan, otherwise mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Showers and thunderstorms are expected in Clearmont this afternoon, otherwise partly sunny, with a high near 61. 

Scattered rain showers will mix with snow tonight in Buffalo, then gradually ending; mostly cloudy and breezy, with a low around 30 and wind gusts as high as 23 mph. Rain showers will turn to snow overnight in Sheridan (less than half an inch possible), with a low around 28; winds will increase to 17 to 22 mph after midnight. Rain and snow are likely overnight in Clearmont (less than half an inch possible), with a low around 30, and winds increasing to 23 to 28 mph. 

Northeast:

Gillette could see some isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, some of which could produce small hail and gusty winds; otherwise mostly cloudy and breezy, with a high near 64 and wind gusts as high as 24 mph. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon in Newcastle, and some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds; otherwise mostly cloudy and breezy, with a high near 69 and winds gusting as high as 22 mph. Isolated showers are possible this afternoon in Moorcroft, with the possibility of thunderstorms producing small hail and gusty winds; mostly cloudy and breezy, with a high near 67 and wind gusts as high as 21 mph. 

Scattered rain showers tonight in Gillette will turn to a chance of snow showers with some thunder also possible; otherwise mostly cloudy and breezy, with a low around 32 and wind gusts as high as 34 mph. Newcastle can expect scattered rain showers turning to snow showers overnight, with some thunder also possible; mostly cloudy and windy, with a low around 31 and wind gusts as high as 38 mph. Scattered rain showers will turn to a chance of snow showers overnight in Moorcroft, with some thunder also possible; otherwise mostly cloudy and breezy, with a low around 32 and gusts as high as 36 mph. 

Eastern Plains:

HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 A.M. TOMORROW 

Douglas has a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon; mostly cloudy and windy, with a high near 71 and wind gusts as high as 35 mph. There’s a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon in Wheatland, with a high near 72; windy, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected in Midwest this afternoon, otherwise mostly sunny and breezy, with a high near 60 and winds gusting as high as 31 mph. 

Partly cloudy and windy overnight in Douglas, with a low around 30 and gusts as high as 55 mph. Partly cloudy and extremely windy in Wheatland tonight, with a low around 34 and wind gusts as high as 75 mph. Partly cloudy and windy overnight in Midwest, with a low around 30 and gusts as high as 45 mph.

Southeast:

HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 P.M. TOMORROW

There’s a 20 percent chance of showers this afternoon in Laramie, otherwise partly sunny and windy, with a high near 62 and gusts as high as 45 mph. Partly sunny and windy in Cheyenne today, with a high near 70 and gusts as high as 40 mph. There’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon in Chugwater, with some of the storms producing gusty winds as high as 40 mph; otherwise mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. 

Laramie has a slight chance of rain and snow showers tonight, with a low around 24; windy, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Partly cloudy and windy overnight in Cheyenne, with a low around 30 and winds gusting as high as 40 mph. Partly cloudy and extremely windy overnight in Chugwater, with a low around 31 and wind gusts as high as 80 mph.

South Central:

HIGH WIND WARNING UNTIL 9 P.M. TODAY

There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon in Rawlins, with the possibility of a thunderstorm with gusty winds as high as 40 mph later in the day; otherwise mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected this afternoon in Saratoga, with some of the storms producing gusty winds as high as 50 mph; otherwise mostly sunny, with a high near 56.  There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon in Hanna, with some of the storms producing gusty winds up to 50 mph; otherwise partly sunny, with a high near 54. 

Rawlins has a chance of rain showers turning to snow overnight, with a low around 22; windy, with gusts as high as 45 mph.  There’s a chance of rain showers turning to snow tonight in Saratoga, with some thunder also possible; otherwise mostly cloudy and windy, with a low around 22 and gusts as high as 40 mph. There’s a chance of rain showers turning to snow showers in Hanna overnight, with a low around 23; very windy, with gusts as high as 60 mph.
