The Jackson man accused of child rape, voyeurism and filming child sex assaults has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for trial, according to a Wednesday court filing.
Teton County Attorney Erin Weisman on Wednesday filed a document acknowledging that German Guerra, 36, pleaded not guilty Friday to numerous charges.
These include one charge of first-degree child sex abuse for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl more than 100 times over the course of a year; 14 voyeurism charges for allegedly filming women going to the bathroom at a bar in Jackson; and two counts of sexual exploitation of children for allegedly filming a 12-year-old girl in various sex acts.
Guerra is scheduled for an Aug. 21 trial in Teton County District Court.
He faces up to 144 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
Weisman and Guerra’s defense attorney, Rachel Weksler, both signed a proposed court order this week acknowledging Guerra’s not-guilty plea, and stating that he is mentally competent and gave his plea voluntarily.
Raping, Whipping, Filming
According to an evidentiary affidavit filed in the district court March 16, Guerra sexually abused a 13-year-old child for a year.
When the girl would not perform sex acts with Guerra, the affidavit alleges based on the girl’s statement, he would whip her with a leather belt.
Guerra also would show the child pornography, the girl told police.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for Guerra’s phone, the affidavit says, and discovered videos of a child performing sex acts.
