It’s Friday, January 27th – and the state forecast map is a blaze of colors. Winter storm warnings, blizzard warnings, high wind warnings, winter storm watches and special weather advisories cover most of the Cowboy State today.

Central Wyoming:

There’s a 50 percent chance of snow in Casper today – 1 to 2 inches are possible. Mostly cloudy and windy, with a high near 33, and gusts as high as 40 mph. There’s a 30 percent chance of snow in Glenrock, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 34. Wind gusts as high as 45 can be expected in Glenrock today. Riverton has just a 20 percent chance of snow – otherwise mostly cloudy, with highs near 29.

Overnight, Casper can expect up to 3 more inches of snow. Blustery, with wind gusts as high as 24 mph, and low temperatures around 23. Riverton is looking at 1-2 inches of snow overnight, with lows around 12 and wind gusts as high as 21 mph. Glenrock can also expect 1-2 inches of snow tonight, along with patchy fog and low temps around 18.

Southwest Wyoming:

A 20 percent chance of snow this morning in Green River, otherwise mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Snow is likely in Cokeville, although less than an inch should accumulate. Mostly cloudy and windy in Cokeville today, with a high near 23 and wind gusts as high as 31 mph. There’s a 50 percent chance of snow in Evanston, where wind gusts up to 38 mph will drive temperatures from 28 degrees to 6, with the wind chill factor.

Overnight, Green River will see mostly cloudy skies, with a low around 18, and wind gusts as high as 34 mph. In Cokeville, there’s a 40 percent chance of snow (less than an inch expected), with lows around 9. Evanston has just a 20 percent chance of snow tonight, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 18. Wind gusts, though, will be as high as 36 mph.

Western Wyoming:

Jackson can expect 3-5 inches of snow today, with a high near 26, and wind gusts as high as 23 mph. 3-7 inches of snow could fall on Afton, with highs near 25, and 24 mph wind gusts. There’s just a 20 percent chance of snow in Big Piney today; partly sunny skies and a high near 22, but wind chill values as low as zero, with wind gusts as high as 34 mph.

Overnight, Jackson can expect another inch of snow, with lows around 18. An additional 1-3 inches of snow is possible in Afton tonight, with lows around 18. Mostly cloudy tonight in Big Piney, with a low around zero, and wind chill values as low at -10. 

Bighorn Basin:

A 40 percent chance of snow in Powell today, with a high near 37, but less than a half inch is expected. Breezy, with wind gusts as high as 34 mph. Ten Sleep can expect an inch of snow today, along with cloudy skies and a high near 35. There’s a 30 percent chance of snow today in Basin, with cloudy skies and a high near 35. Winds there could gust as high as 20 mph.

Overnight, 1-2 inches of snow is likely in Powell, with a low around 13, but wind chill values as low as zero, and wind gusts as high as 34 mph. Ten Sleep could see up to 4 inches of snow, with a low around 16. Only an inch of snow is expected in Basin tonight, although winds could gust as high as 33 mph. Lows around 15.

Northeast Wyoming:

About an inch of snow is likely to fall in Buffalo later today, otherwise mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. There’s a 50 percent chance of snow in Gillette today, with highs near 35, but wind chill values as low as 19. Snow is likely in Moorcroft, but less than one inch is expected; highs near 35, but wind chill values as low as 18.

Overnight, 2-4 more inches of snow could fall in Buffalo, with lows around 14, and wind gusts as high as 30 mph. 1-3 inches of snow is expected in Gillette tonight, with a low of 9, but wind chill values as low as 1. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. 1-2 inches of snow could fall in Moorcroft, with wind gusts up to 18 mph; lows around 9.

Eastern Plains:

A chance of snow today in Wright, with a high near 34, but wind chill values as low as 15.  There’s a 20 percent chance of snow in Wheatland; mostly cloudy and breezy, with a high near 27, and gusts as high as 35 mph. Midwest can expect cloudy skies and wind gusts as high as 31 mph, with highs near 32.

Tonight, snow is likely in Wright, with 1-2 inches possible; lows around 9, and wind gusts as high as 21 mph. There’s a 50 percent chance of snow in Wheatland tonight, with up to 40 mph wind gusts, and lows around 22. 1-3 inches of snow is expected in Midwest overnight, with wind gusts up to 24 mph, and lows around 16.

Southeast Wyoming:

Partly sunny in Cheyenne today, with a high near 36; breezy, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Snow is likely in Rawlins, witn 2-4 inches expected, and wind gusts as high as 55 mph; highs near 29. There’s a 20 percent chance of snow in Chugwater today, with highs near 36; windy, though, with gusts as high as 50 mph.

Overnight, Cheyenne can expect partly cloudy skies, with a low around 16; windy, with gusts as high as 40 mph. More snow for Rawlins tonight, about an inch, with lows around 19; windy, with gusts as high as 45 mph. There’s a 40 percent chance of snow in Chugwater tonight, with lows around 20, and wind gusts as high as 45 mph.
