A civilian tried to run through Gate 2 at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne on Monday morning but failed miserably in their attempt.

Air Force Base officials say the unnamed person drove through the gate at about 8:40am without stopping to provide credentials.

The heavily fortified base surrounded by heavily armed soldiers was no match for the gate runner as the “active vehicle barrier system” was deployed and stopped the vehicle immediately.

Later in the day, the culprit was determined to be “non-hostile.”

“That typically means the driver did not have malicious intent to enter the installation without proper clearance,” a spokesperson for F.E. Warren told Cowboy State Daily late Tuesday.

An airman who was ahead of the gate runner struck the barrier and was hospitalized with minor injuries. He was later released from the hospital.

Gate 2 will be closed for repairs until further notice.

The daughter of the injured airman, Rosie Garza, said on the F.E. Warren Facebook page that she heard the gate-runner was an Uber Eats driver.
