U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney has taken to Twitter to offer some pointed comments to some of her political counterparts who sit across the aisle.
On Thursday, she retweeted a post by Democratic darling U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is known for having more socialist leanings.
“If you say ‘socialism’ three times in a mirror, a corporate lobbyist-backed candidate grows their wings,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a joking tone on Twitter Wednesday morning, accompanying the tweet with an angel emoji.
Cheney did not take well to these words, firing back at Ocasio-Cortez in a response on Thursday morning, saying that socialism was a “fraud.”
“Actually, you can say it as many times as you want,” Cheney wrote. “The American people know socialism is a fraud that has spread death and poverty and crushed human freedom everywhere it’s been tried. But go ahead, keep saying it.
“America will be never be a socialist country.”
She ended her post with an American flag emoji.
Cheney has never been shy about her feelings towards socialism or the Democratic party, although she usually focuses on the veteran Democrats such as Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi or U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer.
