U.S. Sen. John Barrasso is feeling hopeful when it comes to all of the recent announcements about advancements in the battle against the coronavirus and the ensuing pandemic.

During an appearance on Fox Business with Stuart Varney on Wednesday, Barrasso put his doctor cap back on to talk about the recent approval of the rapid coronavirus test by the Federal Drug Administration.

The test can apparently return results in half an hour, but would cost around $50 to purchase.

Barrasso felt confident about the fact that so many breakthroughs have been occurring in the fight against the virus, he told Varney.

“At a time when the number of cases are continuing to go up, these breakthroughs are going to be the light at the end of the tunnel,” the senator said.

The 30-minute test is particularly good news because it will allow for patients to take immediate action and contact anyone they have recently been around, rather than waiting multiple days before finding out the results, Barrasso said.

Plus, this new test would keep people from going to clinics, possibly spreading the virus to others, he added

The two also discussed recent comments by made New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who said that President Trump had nothing to do with the two coronavirus vaccines announced this week.

“Cuomo has been too wrong for too long and the people of New York have paid a high price,” Barrasso said.

The senator also reiterated comments he’s made in the past regarding his opinion that government officials need to find ways to get people back to work and children back in school following the fallout from the pandemic.
