Old Faithful Is Not Spewing Out The Coronavirus Every Time It Erupts

The coronavirus was found in the wastewater at Old Faithful. The geyser was not spewing it.

Our friend Glenn Woods, the morning radio host in Casper, Cheyenne, and Laramie had a good point this morning in regards to the coronavirus being reported at Old Faithful.

As he clarified, the coronavirus was confirmed in the wastewater at a facility near the Old Faithful site.

It’s not as though Old Faithful is spewing the coronavirus every time it erupts — although that would be fascinating and make the year 2020 even more 2020.

As we explained yesterday, the Wyoming Department of Health is checking the wastewater at certain areas of the state to determine some of the locations of the coronavirus.

Of course, Park County has been doing this for some time after the county bought a “poop machine” which tests for the coronavirus.

Why do it?

“With wastewater, you can very quickly get a snapshot of an entire population,” the poop machine company told the LA Times.“The closest approach to replicating the data from wastewater would be to literally test every single person in a community and then take the average of that. It is very powerful.”

Wednesday’s report from the Department of Health said that 11 sites across Wyoming tested positive for it including including Old Faithful.
