Editor’s Note: This is a map of the active coronavirus cases in each county across Wyoming. The number of active cases is determined by subtracting the total number of recoveries seen since the illness first reached Wyoming in mid-March from the total number of confirmed and probable cases diagnosed during the same time period and taking into account deaths related to the disease.
Carbon County continued to lead the state in the growth of new coronavirus cases Sunday as the state Department of Health reported 38 new laboratory-confirmed cases in the past 24 hours.
The increase was part of an overall increases in confirmed cases of 59 statewide that pushed the number of active cases in the state to 590, an increase of 50 from Saturday.
The increases gave Carbon County the highest number of active cases in the state at 128; Fremont County had 103; Laramie had 66; Park had 39; Teton had 36; Washakie had 34; Campbell had 33; Albany had 31; Goshen and Sweetwater had 23; Natrona had 22; Sheridan had 20; Uinta had 14; Lincoln had six; Hot Springs and Johnson had three; Weston had two, and Big Horn, Crook, Platte and Sublette counties had one.
Active cases are determined by adding the total confirmed and probable coronavirus cases diagnosed since the illness first surfaced in Wyoming on March 12, subtracting the number of recoveries during the same period among patients with both confirmed and probable cases and taking into account the number of deaths attributed to the illness.
Converse and Niobrara counties had no active cases.
The increase in confirmed case numbers statewide came from nine counties: Albany, Fremont, Goshen, Laramie, Lincoln, Sheridan, Sweetwater, Teton and Carbon counties. The number of confirmed cases since the illness was first seen in Wyoming in March stood at 2,789 on Sunday.
The number of patients to recover since March was set at 2,668 on Sunday, including 2,246 recoveries among those with confirmed cases and 422 among those with probable cases.
A probable case is defined as one where a patient has coronavirus symptoms and had been in contact with someone with a confirmed case, but has not been tested for the illness.
