An out-of-state trainee visiting Camp Guernsey for training has tested positive for coronavirus, the Wyoming Military Department has announced.

The department, in a news release Tuesday, said the trainee was isolated until being transported back to his home station.

Individuals who came in contact with the trainee currently show no symptoms of the coronavirus, the department said.

All work and training areas of the camp are being sanitized, it added.

“The health and welfare of our force and community remain the top priority as we continue to take steps toward slowing the spread of the virus,” said Col. Joe Huss, garrison commander at the Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center.

Camp Guernsey consists of more than 78,000 acres of land that can be used for training maneuvers in southeastern Wyoming.
