Cassie Craven:  They Don’t Want To Call Anyone Daddy

Columnist Cassie Craven writes, “Why are we all pretending that a baby is not the result of male sperm? When a woman gets an abortion without the knowledge of the father, is that not the government allowing a decision to be made about his body too?”

Adorned in a periwinkle hooded sweatshirt, claw clip and high heels, the striking blonde inquired of Vice President Kamala Harris, “You don’t do too many long-form interviews, what made you want to do Call Her Daddy today?”

Grinning, Harris replied, “You and your listeners have really got this thing right.”

Call Her Daddy is a podcast of mostly genX and genZ listenership, featuring guests talking about sex and relationships. Alex Cooper, the host, and the leader of the “Daddy Gang” as she calls them, talks with her guests about cunnilingus, not communism.

But on this day she made an exception. Cooper said in the introduction that although the Vice Presidential interview was out of the norm, she could not see a world in which one of the main conversations in this election is women, and she was not a part of it. While she may not be qualified to discuss fracking, she is qualified to talk about how “women are treated and valued in this country,” she said.

Harris described being raised by her mother after her parents divorced. Her mom taught her “agency,” or how to “Think of what you had the choice to do or not do,” in every situation, she recalled.

Harris pointed to 20 states with “Trump abortion bans,” after the Supreme Court ordered the reversal of Roe v. Wade – in a landmark decision that allowed for state legislatures to decide their own abortion laws.

The impact of this, said Harris, is that every state in the South except Virginia, has an abortion ban. According to her, the majority of women who seek abortions are already mothers and the “abortion desert” effectively means that these women must have affordable child care, paid leave, drive to an airport, wait in the TSA line, sit by strangers, and travel to another city. Then after her abortion, the hypothetical woman must immediately get back on that plane to get home to her other children.

Harris put her desperation, subversion and deception on full display. She so easily manipulated the narrative to blame Trump for all state decision-making after the Supreme Court of the United States ruled. She even conspiracy-theorized that contraception is “very much at risk with these folks.”

The Daddy Gang probably believed every spoon-fed word and envisioned women across this country in red hooded capes from the Handmaids Tale.

During Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing, then-Senator Kamala Harris asked him a question that Cooper parroted in this interview – “Can we think of any law that gives the government the power to make a decision about a man’s body?”

Harris exclaimed “no!” with a roaring cackle.

I recognize that life is complicated. I know people who have had abortions for a variety of reasons. But two things stick out to me.

First, they began the interview by, ironically, talking about how we have autonomy in every decision and action we make.

While the show is premised on a woman's sexual decisions, it shrinks from empowering women to embrace the fruit of those decisions.

Abortion shouldn’t be used as birth control. Trump supports abortion in cases of rape, incest and life of the mother. But ultimately, the state legislatures must vote.

Second, as to the Kavanaugh confirmation question – why are we all pretending that a baby is not the result of male sperm? When a woman gets an abortion without the knowledge of the father, is that not the government allowing a decision to be made about his body too? Is that child not his also?

I have had it with the categorization of people’s rights with men pretending to be women at the top and white males with what often seems like absolutely no rights at the bottom. Biological women don’t even exist anymore so I’ll leave them out altogether. Babies in the womb don’t count either. Their heartbeat is a figment of your imagination.

The women of the Left don’t want to call anyone “Daddy,” other than themselves. The nihilism is deafening.
