Natrona County Deputies Seek Information In Fairgrounds Shooting

A victim was taken to Banner Health Wyoming Medical Center in Casper with non-life-threatening injuries after an apparent shooting near the Natrona County fairgrounds Tuesday evening.

The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help solving an evening shooting near the fairgrounds in Casper that happened Tuesday, the night of a Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo event.

At about 10:20 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a disturbance south of the intersection of Fairside Road and Fairgrounds Road, according to a statement the office dispatched Tuesday night.  

Witnesses heard what they believed to be a gunshot, deputies learned from dispatchers.  

One victim was transported to Banner Health Wyoming Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, the statement says.  

Fairgrounds Road was closed Tuesday night but was open once again Wednesday morning. The incident is under investigation.  

Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo events will continue Wednesday as scheduled, Kiera Grogan, Natrona County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, told Cowboy State Daily in an email.

According to the event schedule, there was a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo that night. Numerous events are scheduled through Saturday.

The sheriff’s office is asking people to report information about the shooting to 307-235-9282, or anonymously through crime-stoppers.com or by calling 307-577-8477.
