Update: Boulder Man Who Died In 10-Foot-Deep Trench Was Trying To Install Drain

Authorities were tight-lipped Monday about a trench failure Friday that killed a Boulder, Wyoming, resident.

A male died of asphyxiation Friday in Boulder following a trench collapse, Sublette County Coroner Curt Covill told Cowboy State Daily on Monday.

He was in the trench, Covill said, adding that he was reluctant to discuss too much of the case at this stage, but the victim’s next-of-kin are aware of the death. Covill declined to give the victim’s age.

The circumstances are not criminally suspicious, Covill said. The autopsy was slated for Monday afternoon.

Sublette County Sheriff KC Lehr responded to the scene. Lehr did not respond Monday afternoon to a voicemail request for comment.

Cowboy State Daily will update this story as more information is available.
