It’s Sunday, January 22nd – and much of the state can expect some snowfall today. Watch out for fog in the morning near Riverton.

Central Wyoming:

In the Riverton and Lander area, dense fog will blanket the area in the morning, so drivers beware.

The fog will begin clearing around 10 a.m. Highs will be in the high teens and lower 20s, with wind chills near -10. Snow showers are likely for the central part of the state in the late afternoon and evening. Casper can expect wind gusts up to 26 mph (surprise, surprise).

Overnight, snow showers will continue. Lander can expect a low around 14, with snow accumulations up to 3 inches, while Riverton should get less snow – about an inch – and lows around 8. Casper could get up to 3 inches of snow, with blustery winds and a low around 20.

Southwest Wyoming:

Rock Springs can expect a partly sunny and cold Sunday, with temperatures near 20, but wind chills as low as -5. The Kemmerer area can expect some snow showers in the evening and mostly cloudy skies, with a high near 20. Winds in the region will gust as high as 20 mph, so hang on to your hats.

Overnight, scattered snow showers and lows around 11 can be expected near Rock Springs, while Kemmerer’s temps will drop as low as 4, with mostly cloudy skies.

West-Central Mountains:

Dubois and Pinedale can expect scattered snow showers in the afternoon, with highs nearing 25, but wind chills as low as -10.

Overnight, expect mostly cloudy skies with a few snow showers, and lows around -2 in Pinedale and around 6 for Dubois.

Western Wyoming:

Jackson and surrounding communities can expect snow showers this morning through mid-day, then mostly cloudy skies, with highs near 17. 

Overnight, temperatures will drop to around 2 near Jackson, with wind chill values of -5, and cloudy skies. Winds could gust up to 20 mph in Jackson, but Afton shouldn’t experience much wind tonight.

Bighorn Basin:

Expect mostly cloudy skies in the Bighorn Basin today, with isolated snow showers in the afternoon, and highs in the low 30s. Winds will pick up near Powell, though, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Overnight, scattered snow showers can be expected, with lows in the mid-teens. Winds near Powell and Lovell could gust up to 31 mph tonight.

Northeast Wyoming:

There’s a 30 percent chance of snow in northeast Wyoming this afternoon, with highs near 38. Winds could blow up to 18 mph, with gusts up to 26 in some places.

There’s a 50 percent chance of snow showers on the east slope of the Bighorn Mountains tonight, with a low around 20. Buffalo and Gillette can expect high winds, though, with gusts as high as 37 mph.

Eastern Plains:

The sun will shine on the far eastern plains today, with highs around 32.

Clouds will roll in overnight, with a 20 percent chance of snow. Lows could drop around 24, with winds gusting as 30 mph in some places.

Southeast Wyoming:

Sunshine and winds today, with temperatures in the mid-30s. Expect 15 to 20 mph winds, with gusts as high as 45 mph near Chugwater.

Clouds will roll in tonight, bringing a 30 percent chance of snow, and temperatures ranging between 14 and 24.
