A Sheridan High School virtual learning assistant principal is in police custody on a sexual assault charge, authorities and sources say.
“Details regarding the investigation are still ongoing,” Sheridan Police Chief Travis Koltiska told Cowboy State Daily on Wednesday about the Monday arrest of 33-year-old Jacob Meyer. “(Police) are still actively working on the case.”
Meyer is listed on the Sheridan School District 2 website as a virtual learning assistant principal for Sheridan High School, and on the SHS website as a “blended learning principal.”
Sheridan County School District 2 Superintendent Scott Stults told Cowboy State Daily in a post-publication comment that the district is "very limited" in what it can share regarding personnel decisions, but the district handled this situation promptly.
"When we became aware of this situation, immediate steps were taken," said Stults. "And because this is a personnel matter, I can't provide further information."
Meyer is facing a charge of second-degree sexual assault, according to a source close to the case.
