This week marks four years since Cam Sholly took over as superintendent of Yellowstone National Park and four months since a devastating, historic flood cut down on tourism numbers by more than a million visitors.
Wyoming meteorologist Don Day scoffed at the Yellowstone flood being called a “1,000 year flood.” He said there’s not 1,000 years of precipitation records anywhere in the world and the phrase is a “statistical pretzel based on 80 years of rainfall data.”
