Casper restaurant owner Alex Rosales didn’t know the elaborately dressed blond man. Rosales figured his customer was just someone who liked to look lavish while eating Mexican food.

But it turns out this Tacos Mexico regular was YouTuber and cosmetics mogul and Casper resident Jeffree Star, who likes to look his best at all times.

“My daughters had to tell me who he was,” Rosales told Cowboy State Daily on Wednesday. “Even then, though, we didn’t treat him different. We treated him like a normal customer, because that’s who he is.”

That was about two years ago.

Fast forward to this week, when Rosales will be including meat in some of his restaurant’s dishes from yaks raised by Star.

On Friday, Tacos Mexico will unveil the Star Yak Ranch carne desebrada, a type of shredded meat. Restaurant patrons can try the yak desebrada as a chimichanga or a platter of shredded meat with queso freso, rice and more. The restaurant will feature more cuts of the yak meat in the coming weeks as a special on weekends.

Rosales was skeptical when first trying the yak meat, but said Star’s product made a believer out of him.

“We weren’t really thinking of changing the menu, because we’re pretty much set on our dishes,” Rosales said. “But we got some yak meat for our personal use and it was really good. It’s got a great flavor, but it’s also not as fatty as beef is.”

A few weeks after Rosales tried the yak meat, Star stopped into the restaurant to inquire about a partnership between his yak ranch and Tacos Mexico, which has been in business in Casper for 22 years.

Rosales said he and his team were willing to try something new, by creating the new dishes with the exotic meat.

He also said it seemed like Star’s willingness to seek the restaurant out and ask them for a partnership, rather than vice versa, points to a quality in the food Tacos Mexico serves.

“It’s very flattering because he’s told us that he’s been to a lot of places and he really liked what we do,” Rosales said. “Here we are in Casper, Wyoming and to have someone recognize what you’re doing and he’s totally into it.”

Star began selling yak meat earlier this year. He has done pop-up shops in the Casper area, where people can buy various cuts of meat and beef jerky.

Rosales said how long the partnership lasts depends on Star’s supply of yak meat to the restaurant, but he expects that the partnership with Star will bring customers from all over Wyoming and the rest of the country.

The restaurant has already been featured on Star’s YouTube channel and other social media platforms, giving them a boost in recognition.

“He’s one of those guys that’s a perfectionist, from presentation to publicity,” Rosales said. “We’re all about stepping up and supplying our customers with something a little better than average.”

Star did not return Cowboy State Daily’s request for comment on Wednesday.

Gun Lover Jeffree Star Receives Custom Pink Firearm From Beretta

By Ellen Fike, Cowboy State Daily

Despite being known for his love of fashion and makeup, YouTuber and cosmetics mogul Jeffree Star is actually a gun enthusiast as well who recently received a custom-made pink pistol from famed firearms manufacturer Beretta.

Star told Cowboy State Daily he saw an uptick in comments on his social media earlier this month when he released a YouTube video featuring the pistol.

“I would say 95% of my audience’s comments were positive, but Beretta saw some ‘controversy’ when they posted about my gun and were supporting me on their Facebook, Instagram and website,” Star said Wednesday. “It ruffled a lot of feathers, likely of old men and maybe Republicans who don’t understand that I’m all a free spirit.”

The YouTuber said he is not bothered by what people say about him and his love of guns, whether they agree with him or not. He noted he has a license to carry a concealed weapon and loves taking part in target practice.

Star said he has featured other guns on his YouTube channel, such as a pink AR-15 featured when he reviewed Gucci foundation makeup.

Star has been around guns from a young age and he said his father was a marksman, while his mother taught him gun safety from a young age.

However, gun laws in his home state of California are significantly more restrictive than those in Wyoming, which means that since moving to the Cowboy State, Star has been able to fully express his appreciation for firearms.

Since moving to Wyoming in 2020, Star has expanded his gun collection, saying he was even in the process of building a weapons room comparable to those seen in “James Bond” films.

He added that on Friday, he would be flying to Italy to tour the Beretta headquarters, where he will be given a pink rifle as a gift.

“I love random stuff,” he said. “Yeah, I like fashion and makeup, but I also like pinball. I like these things because they’re not normal. I have a flamethrower from Elon Musk’s The Boring Company. I have a gold-plated Russian AK-47 Zastava. I like collecting badass things.”

He did add that the Beretta pistol is currently his favorite firearm, though.

While Star is a gun enthusiast, he did note that he always encourages gun safety first and foremost.

“People make guns and certain things seem scary, but it’s so normal,” he said.

Jeffree Star Presents Alternative Image of Wyoming

By Jimmy Orr, Cowboy State Daily

It’s not the iconic image of Wyoming adorning our license plates, where the cowboy hat-wearing wrangler has an iron grip on a bucking bronco named Steamboat.

But it is a picture of Wyoming.

Instead of wranglers, the cowpoke is wearing a pink tracksuit. And instead of cows or horses, a herd of yaks.

That’s the image Jeffree Star, the larger-than-life makeup mogul who recently moved to Wyoming, posted on his social media accounts on Sunday.

“I’m truly at mental peace out here on my ranch,” Star said, introducing the photo.

While it is unlikely this image will replace Wyoming’s well known and often celebrated license plate, no one can deny Star’s love for Wyoming.

“It’s so peaceful and quiet here,” he said of his newly acquired ranch in Natrona County. “My view of the mountain is unreal. So far, I have accumulated 500 acres of peace and quiet and I am working on some more, but we have a beautiful home here and I am going to build a future here.”

Not that there was ever a discussion about replacing Wyoming’s license plate. But changes in license plates across the country do happen.

Alaskans were up in arms when the grizzly bear was removed from its license plate in 1976.

Like the NFL’s plan to allow throwback insignias on teams’ helmets in 2022 (meaning the big “D” will return on Broncos’ helmets), Alaska — to much applause — brought back its retro grizzly design on license plates in 2015.

Delaware often comes in last when people are asked to vote on favorite license plate design. The state is the Cleveland Browns of license plates as it offers no image just a color.

Wyoming, on the other hand, regularly wins the gold medal for its design. Although Colorado, inexplicably, is often ranked at the top as well.

Makeup mogul Jeffree Star is selling his California home and moving to Wyoming to become a full-time resident, he announced this week.

In a video posted to YouTube on Tuesday titled “Addressing My Mental Health…Selling My House and Getting Help,” Star noted that due to issues in his personal life and for his mental health, he will be selling his home and staying in Wyoming full-time to heal himself.

“This decision was astronomically hard,” Star said in the video. “I’m a very damaged person. I’ve been through so much trauma. And being in this big house is so lonely.”

He added that he has been suffering for depression for years and despite having one of the biggest years ever in 2019 for his makeup line, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, he was feeling miserable.

Star also ended his relationship that same year and two of his beloved dogs passed away during that time, he said.

Now, he said, he is ready to focus on himself and become a happier person.

Earlier this year, Star was involved in a rollover accident with his best friend just outside of Casper, where he currently lives. Star’s Rolls Royce hit some slush on the road, causing it to leave the roadway and roll multiple times.

He actually addressed the accident in the video, noting it was the first time he’d filmed a YouTube video without his back brace in more than a month. Star’s back was partially broken in the rollover.

“I think my accident really, really happened for a reason,” he said. “It was one of the most humbling experiences.”

Since the accident, he has continued making YouTube videos and working on new launches for Jeffree Star Cosmetics, which is worth more than $1.5 billion.

By Ellen Fike, Cowboy State Daily

Makeup mogul and YouTube star Jeffree Star has posted a video blog offering details about the car accident that landed him and his best friend in the hospital last month.

In a 30-minute video entitled “The TRUTH About My Car Accident,” Star discusses not only the accident, but what he has been up to in the last few weeks. He shared his feelings about the terrifying situation, as well as what he thought about people who wished he’d died in the rollover crash.

“I have driven on the road my car flipped on every single day since I moved here, and I’ve been a Wyoming resident for over six months,” Star said. “We were in some really crazy weather. No, we were not speeding. No, there were no drugs involved. There was nothing wrong here except the weather and an accident.”

Star and his best friend Daniel Lucas were injured in the accident on Hat Six Road near Casper when Star’s Rolls Royce hit some slush on the road, causing it to leave the roadway and roll multiple times.

“I’m in excruciating pain because part of my back is broken and I have vertebrae fractures on my spine. My doctor said it will take a few months but I should make a full recovery,” Star wrote on Twitter following the accident, which he called one of the scariest moments of his life.

Lucas, who suffered internal injuries in the crash, was taken to Las Vegas for surgery. Lucas has been treated for colon cancer multiple times, creating medical complications.

Star referenced his back injury in the video, addressing the back brace he would have to continue wearing for another five weeks. The video also included clips of Star from the hospital, saying that although he and Lucas tend to joke about serious topics, the crash almost caused them to lose their lives.

He added in the video that while the two received tremendous amounts of support, there were also people who wished they hadn’t survived the crash.

“I think we won the Guinness Book of World Records of most people telling us they wished we’d died,” Star said.

Since the crash, Star has launched a new line of makeup through his brand, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, which is worth about $1.5 billion.

YouTuber and makeup mogul Jeffree Star has shared a multitude of updates regarding his health and well-being following a rollover car accident on Friday morning.

“I’m in excruciating pain because part of my back is broken and I have vertebrae fractures on my spine. My doctor said it will take a few months but I should make a full recovery,” Star wrote on Twitter on Friday following the accident, which he called one of the scariest moments of his life.

Star and his best friend Daniel Lucas were involved in the accident on Friday morning on Hat Six Road near Casper. They were driving northbound when Star’s Rolls Royce hit some slush, causing the car to go off the roadway and roll multiple times.

Lucas, who suffered from internal injuries in the crash, was taken to Las Vegas for surgery, according to Star. Lucas has been treated for colon cancer multiple times, creating medical complications.

Star was discharged from the Wyoming Medical Center on Saturday. He posted photos of his Rolls Royce over the weekend, saying how grateful he was the vehicle was made from reinforced steel, which he said kept Lucas and him alive.

“The pain is 10 times worse than yesterday but we are doing ok. Love you guys so much,” he wrote on Sunday.

The makeup mogul, whose line Jeffree Star Cosmetics is worth about $1.5 billion, is planning a launch for his new line Star Lounge this week, and is attempting to not let the car accident slow him down.

He was still in pain as of Monday morning, but noted that some close friends and family flew in to Wyoming to see him.

Star spent much of the weekend retweeting photos from fans meeting him and Lucas at various events over the years, as well as a post from Lucas saying he wanted to be healthy.

By Ellen Fike, Cowboy State Daily

YouTuber and makeup mogul Jeffree Star was injured in a rollover collision near Casper on Friday.

In a Twitter post shared to Star’s account Friday, a photo showed the Star lying in a hospital bed wearing a neck brace. He was holding the hand of his best friend, Daniel Lucas.

“A few hours ago Jeffree and Daniel were in a severe car accident and the car flipped 3 times after hitting black ice,” the post said. “We will update you all when the doctor gives us more info. So thankful they are both alive.”

According to Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeremy Beck, Star and Lucas were driving on the Hat Six Road northbound when they encountered some slush in the roadway around 8:30 a.m. Friday.

The car then went off the road and rolled over. Beck didn’t have information on whether Star and Lucas were wearing seatbelts, how fast the vehicle was going or even who was actually driving the car.

“I honestly don’t know a lot about what happened, but we’re still investigating everything,” Beck told Cowboy State Daily on Friday.

Star and Lucas were taken to the Wyoming Medical Center following the crash and were still there as of early Friday afternoon.

Star has been living in the Casper area since the fall, after he bought a ranch where he could write his autobiography. He has regularly been seen around town since then.

Who Is Jeffree Star And Why Is He In Wyoming?

By Ellen Fike, Cowboy State Daily

Makeup mogul and YouTuber Jeffree Star has been posting about Wyoming lately on his social media accounts.

Just this week, the entrepreneur posted on an Instagram story that he was in Casper, even taking in a meal at HQ BBQ in Evansville and bowling at Sunrise Lanes in Casper.

But if you don’t know Star or his work, we thought you might appreciate a rundown on who he is and why he’s been in Wyoming as of late.

First, Star got his star(t) on MySpace, where he promoted his music and fashion. He regularly posted photos in bold makeup styles and fashions, which helped him gain immense popularity on the website.

His first and to date only album, “Beauty Killer,” was released in 2009 and even featured an appearance from Nicki Minaj on one of the tracks.

But over the last decade, Star has mainly focused on his makeup line, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, which has made him millions. Star confirmed in a podcast interview in April that his makeup line was worth $1.5 billion.

He is also a major influencer in the YouTube beauty community, boasting 17.2 million subscribers as of Friday. He also has 14.7 million followers on his Instagram account.

So why has he been coming to Wyoming?

Like many celebrities, Star enjoys the state’s beautiful views and the relative anonymity he receives (although someone who rocks bold looks like Star is bound to get a few glances).

In August, he announced he was going to live in Wyoming part-time on his newly-purchased ranch to work on his autobiography.
