A Rock Springs woman was killed Thursday evening after the tire on her motorcycle ripped apart as she was driving.

Kim Vase Willingham, 65, was northbound on WY Highway 530 near Rock Springs when the motorcycle’s tire came apart and failed. The motorcycle began to fishtail, and Vase Willingham lost control of it.

Vase Willingham was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the road. She was wearing a helmet and road conditions were dry.

Equipment failure is the only suspected factor in the crash. This is the 41st traffic fatality on Wyoming highways this year.
